What I don’t get is how the crossed manage to survive for so long when they can’t restrain themselves from raping every orifice, coming into contact with every bodily fluid, and eating human flesh (often uncooked) every chance they get. Accumulating STDs like they’re going out of style and not getting them treated (not to mention the various other diseases that can be spread through such careless contact) isn’t going to make these sadistic predators any more effective in their hunting abilities, and I understand there are significant negative health effects of cannibalism. Some crossed may be more naturally resistant to disease than others, but there are limits to such resistance.
